35 projects supported within framework of the University of Paris Seine Initiative

The University of Paris Seine initiative has chosen to financially support 35 research projects as well as ESSEC’s Ph.D. program, for a total of approximately €4.2 million. In total, 131 projects were submitted by researchers and laboratories from the four partner institutions (UCP, ESSEC Business School, EISTI and ENSEA). The call for proposals, launched last April, aims to provide financial support for projects that seek to contribute to the development of scientific excellence as well as the increased attractiveness and international visibility of the region.

The call for proposals, first launched this past April, aims to give researchers the means to increase their attractiveness and impact in their field and within an international ecosystem.

Based on the advice of its scientific committee, the executive board of the University of Paris Seine Initiative decided to invest approximately €4.2 million to financially support 35 research projects and ESSEC’s PhD program. These projects cover all the scientific domains of the initiative: scientific modeling; the humanities and social sciences; and experimental sciences.

The proposals that were selected demonstrate an exceptional capacity to attract talented individuals – notably by integrating young researchers – to forge new strategic partnerships or to establish their place as a leading international project. Additionally, the other projects that were given precedence either encourage the emergence of new research themes, aim to strengthen doctoral and post-doctoral programs, increase the attractiveness and international visibility of the region, or seek to develop socio-economic research partnerships.

The number, quality and diversity of the proposals submitted reveal a strong desire within the scientific community of the four institutions to seize the development opportunities offered by the initiative." explains François Germinet, President of the University of Cergy-Pontoise.

In light of the great success of this first call for proposals, a second one will be launched next year to continue supporting the research carried out by the University of Paris Seine partner institutions.
