ESSEC Business School launches the "Leading a Scale-Up" Chair with the support of Alcméon, Colonies and In Extenso

This new Chair, which is unique in the European academic landscape, brings together experts from the academic and business worlds to prepare the talent capable of supporting the development of high-growth companies in France and Europe. Thanks to these new talents, these companies will be more resilient and be able to make a strong economic and societal impact on the international stage.

An observation: few European startups succeed in their growth due to a lack of specific skills

Companies and organizations that move from "startup" to "scale-up" status are the future drivers of sustainable economic development in France and Europe. While more and more start-ups have the potential to grow, very few of them scale up and succeed.

It is clear that they are struggling to attract, recruit, integrate and develop the talent that can drive this scale-up. Many of them urgently need talent with specific skills that current leaders are not always trained for.

The "Leading a Scale-Up" Chair: a unique ecosystem in Europe to support the success of scale-ups in France and abroad

The "Leading a Scale-Up" Chair has three main objectives:

∙ Train the next generation of leaders by providing a demanding educational experience for grande école students, combining a set of courses, seminars and a research assignment within a scale-up ecosystem organization.

∙ Produce world-class research on the challenges of scaling companies to help them achieve sustainable growth.

∙ Create a learning community between scale-up companies, their leaders, future talent, investors, and service provider companies. 

The Chair also plans to create a research observatory, co-developed with the Chair's partner organizations.

ESSEC Business School announces the creation of the "Leading a Scale-Up" Chair in partnership with Alcméon, Colonies, In Extenso and its subsidiary In Extenso Innovation Croissance, which will offer a unique specialization track for students in the Grande Ecole program. The first class will welcome around 30 students in January 2023.
