Raymond-Alain Thietart, distinguished professor, Management Department, awarded the prix académique de la recherche en management for his paper Strategy Dynamics: Agency, Path Dependency, and Self-Organized Emergence.
On Thursday, April 14, 2016, Syntec (ConsultinFrance) hosted their annual Academic Management Research Awards in 5 categories. In the Finance & Strategy category, ESSEC is pleased to congratulate laureate Raymond-Alain Thietart, distinguished professor, Management Department.
His paper, Strategy Dynamics: Agency, Path Dependency, and Self-Organized Emergence, addresses one of the central issues of strategy, namely: can leaders and their organizations act upon their choices?
The results challenge the idea that the strategic action and particularly its temporality arises from the deliberate choice of a leader. They show, however, that the evolution of the strategy is the result of a complex combination of will, chance, determinism, and self-organization.
