The construction industry annually consumes the equivalent of 6 tons of mineral materials per inhabitant, making it the second most consumed resource after water. Faced with this reality, companies in the construction sector are confronted with challenges that go beyond environmental considerations.
In this perspective, Eurovia actively engages in the collection and recycling of construction waste, producing annually eight million tons of recycled aggregates at its 130 production sites. A concrete example of this initiative is the 100% recycled highway, where Eurovia uses a coating derived from the recycling of the old pavement. An innovation that enabled them to win the "Route of the Future" call for projects from the Future Investment Program (PIA) operated by Ademe (the french ecological transition agency).
At the heart of these transformations, Eurovia structures its presence through 150 agencies, 220 quarries, and 180 recycling platforms across the country. The goal is to stay as close as possible to customers. In this context, Agency Managers, whose role has evolved from a purely technical function to that of a "Business Unit" leader with a management approach considering employee development, play a crucial role.
The role of Agency Managers has undergone significant evolution, now charging them with sensitizing employees to environmental issues, recruiting and retaining environmentally conscious talents, while ensuring increased safety on construction sites. A less paternalistic and more participative managerial posture has become necessary to meet these new challenges.
To address these evolving needs, Eurovia has collaborated for over 10 years with ESSEC Executive Education to offer the Eurovia "New Agency Managers" Program, a training adapted to the industry's changes, focusing on two main areas: business development and agency organization.
Damien Lebas, academic director of the program, emphasizes the importance of an evolving training aiming to strengthen the skills of Agency Managers, covering areas such as team management, development of managerial skills of collaborators, communication, negotiation, and financial management. This 12-day training program over 9 months includes 8 days at ESSEC and 4 days at Eurovia.
With over 200 Agency Managers trained since 2013, this enduring partnership between ESSEC Executive Education and Eurovia proves fruitful. Damien Lebas insists on the pedagogical dynamics focused on participant involvement, highlighting a humanistic and positive vision of management. Through specific situations and case studies, participants build their own roadmap, committing to increased efficiency and performance within their agency.
The training doesn't merely transmit knowledge; it encourages reflection and the development of soft skills in the service of performance. It truly represents a transformative journey for Agency Managers.
According to Damien Lebas, the pedagogical dynamics of the program rely on participant involvement, fostering a humanistic and positive vision of management. Specific situations and case studies are used to multiply individual and collective experiments. Participants are encouraged to question their actions, motivations, and results, thereby building their own roadmap for increased efficiency and performance within their agency.
In conclusion, the collaboration between ESSEC Executive Education and Eurovia represents a successful model of adaptation to contemporary challenges in the construction sector, combining quality training, innovation, and commitment to the environment as well as the human aspect.
