Fast Moving Consumer Goods Chair

Fast Moving Consumer Goods Chair

The consumer goods sector is in the midst of a major transformation: digital revolution, uberization of business models, consumer empowerment, responsibility towards people and the planet.

  • The Chair provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the current state of the sector: its stakeholders, its opportunities and its challenges.

  • It is also a place for discussion and debate so that we can build the future of consumption together: more agile, more responsible, more creative ways of consuming

"Students, partners and friends: 'Together, let's work to improve tomorrow's consumption!'

An innovative and creative way of consuming based on digital transformation. As well as a way of consuming that is fully conscious of its responsibility towards the world.

This constantly evolving sector feeds and provides for tens of millions of households on a daily basis, has a massive impact on resources, the environment, the ecosystem and biodiversity, and directly and indirectly employs more than one million people in France."

Rémy Gérin

Executive Director

  • The first Chair created at ESSEC in 1985 with long-standing partners such as Carrefour, Auchan, P&G, Essity, Groupe Seb, Unilever, etc.

  • The Chair gives a fair voice to manufacturers and retailers through its career-building courses, Chair seminars and field visits (a Carrefour store visit, Essity factory tour, etc.). One month of retail experience is required to complete the Chair.

  • Various events throughout the six months of the Chair such as the ESSEC Award for Responsible Initiatives (presentation of the awards at the Ministry for the Economy in Paris), the Daniel Tixier Award for Consumer Initiatives (100% student award), Chair dinners with alumni and mentors, the Essity challenge or CSR events.

  • A one-week study trip  to a capital city to meet our partners and discover another culture's consumption and retail culture.

  • A network of almost 1,000 alumni working in the consumer goods sector and about 50 internship/ work placement opportunities throughout the year.
