The rankings are based on the ‘Association for Information Systems’ (AIS) List of 6 High-quality Journals, a defined basket of high-ranking journals in the field of business information systems and digitization, which includes: MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, and European Journal of Information Systems.
ESSEC ranked 3rd in Europe, Africa and Middle East for Information Systems Research

The latest results, accumulated from 2017 to 2021, showed that ESSEC is ranked 3rd in Europe, Africa and Middle East in the AIS list, just behind the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland and Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. ESSEC is also the first French Business School placed in the top 40 of the global ranking.
Thomas Kude, Associate Professor of Information Systems at ESSEC, is ranked in the top 85 scholars out of 200 top global IS scholars. His current research focuses on digital ecosystems and agile software development. In 2018, the Association for Information Systems awarded him with the AIS Early Career Award for the best paper published in the journal Information Systems Research.
