From 16 to 21 May, both the Asia-Pacific and Europe cohorts of the ESSEC & Mannheim Executive MBA attended their Asia residency at the Sangnam Institute of Management (SIM) at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. The executives resided at and attended classes at SIM, the only Executive Education training facility of its kind in Korea.
The week's focus was on innovation, with the syllabus spanning topics such as Business Model Innovation, Disruptive Innovation and Driving Growth through Innovation. Classes were taught by professors and industry experts with extensive experience in innovation both in Silicon Valley and in South Korea. The two company visits during the week focused on innovation and efficiency, as the executives visited Samsung Electronics and Hyundai/Kia Motors. The week was wrapped up with a graduation ceremony for all participants, further strengthening the collaboration between ESSEC Business School and Yonsei University.
We hear from EMBA participant 2015/2016 Mr. Franck Webert, Factory Director, ESSILOR Manufacturing Thailand, regarding his thoughts on the residency, “The ESSEC & Mannheim EMBA residency at Yonsei University was very exciting and I was impressed by the high-level panel of professors and speakers. The infrastructures are sophisticated and advanced, which is why, in my opinion, Yonsei University is one of the best in South Korea. What I enjoyed the most was that the Professors were all passionate about their field and it was very interesting to have their insights on business in South Korea. I also enjoyed the company visits during the study trip. It was well-organized and we got a first-hand experience on how they do business in the region.”
