23.6.2023

Yatin Nanda: Born and brought up in the Nation Capital Region of the country, I had been residing in the city of Gurgaon for the 20+ years. During this time, I have enjoyed the privilege of attending some of the most prestigious educational institutes in the country.

Prior to joining the MBA, I was working with McKinsey & Company for 4+ years across a multitude of projects. I had the opportunity to be exposed to various sectors, which allowed me to identify my passion and double down on it. Towards the final year of my tenure, I was responsible for leading the operations for 25 analysts, who reported to me and that helped develop my management style. Currently, I am residing in Dubai, UAE and am working with PwC in the tourism and hospitality sector, focused on the Middle East. Passionate about the travel sector, prior to my current role, I was working with South East Asia, as a hospitality and wellness consultant.

Yatin Nanda, Senior Consultant at PwC Middle East in Tourism & Hospitality and graduated from the Global MBA - Strategy and Management track., shares his learning experience at ESSEC Executive Education.

Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

“ESSEC [...] provided me a fantastic platform for a truly global experience”

Why did you choose the GMBA at ESSEC?

Yatin N.:ESSEC was a clear choice owing to a number of reasons. Listed below are some of the core factors I considered while making this choice:

  1. International experience coupled with diversity and inclusion: Multiple campuses, top tier faculty and international field trips provided me a fantastic platform for a truly global experience

  2. Focused attention and ability to truly engage in classroom with my peers: With a small cohort (25-30 students), there was ample opportunity to engage effectively and in a more personalised manner with professors, career services and peers

  3. Career support:The monthly networking events, career services team and very strong alumni network provide the platform and support required to springboard a candidate into the career of their choice

  4. Course curriculum is extremely suited to management roles: strategy and management are skills that can cut across industries and functions, and helped me understand how managers think and will help me stay relevant in any industry

What was your project when you entered the program?

I had clearly outlined my goals from the moment I started the program, which was ‘I wanted to work as a consultant in the travel sector, focused on international markets.’ Leveraging ESSEC’s capabilities, I believed I would receive the required support to achieve my goals and that’s exactly what happened. Backed with the full force of ESSEC, I was able to streamline my career by working in the sector of my choice as well as in the international market of my choice.

Highlighted below are some of the top skills I acquired during the program:

  1. Optimally network in a global context:Through the several networking programs, international field trips and many talks that were organised, I was able to network with many different international and seasoned professionals

  2. Derive impact from diverse teams:Working side by side, in small focused groups with classmates coming from various parts of the world and achieving success in our deliverables by capitalising on our combined capabilities

  3. Leading with compassion: As the elected class representative I led and represented our cohort through a difficult (COVID affected) year by listening, understanding and resolving any roadblocks for each of our classmates

What is your current job position and how did the GMBA help you reach it?

Yatin N.: Currently, I am based in Dubai, UAE and am working with PwC Middle East as a Senior Consultant in their Tourism & Hospitality Global Centre of Excellence. The GMBA equipped me with several skills as outlined above and provided me with the appropriate international platform to achieve my goals. I am exactly where I envisioned myself to be and a big part of that is courtesy ESSEC and the GMBA.

What is your best memory of the program?

Yatin N.: Chablis! The team bonding trip we took as a cohort to the wine producing region of Chablis was phenomenal! From the activities and the competitive spirit to the educational instruction over fine wine, it truly was a memorable experience and helped the entire cohort bond, setting the tone for the year to come.
