Launch of the 5th Jump’Estival by ESSEC, Co-Organized by ESSECavaliers

18.7.2024

Jump’Estival by ESSEC, an equestrian event showcasing show jumping and entertainment, is set to take place from July 25–28, 2024, in Deauville. Organized jointly by the ESSECavaliers student association, this competition is sure to captivate both riders and attract a wide audience. Ayako Bocquet, the head of the organization, offers an insider’s perspective on the event.

Ayako Bocquet, a student in the Global BBA program at ESSEC Business School, has always had a passion for horses, a love shared by her family who founded a small sports horse-breeding farm in Normandy. This academic year, Ayako has served as vice-president of the ESSECavaliers association and will assume the presidency in September 2024. The student organization, with 30 active members, brings together horse-riding enthusiasts from the business school and partners with a riding school to offer beginner lessons every Thursday. Their mission is to introduce as many students as possible to this discipline.

Ayako is spearheading the organization of Jump’Estival by ESSEC, set to take place from July 25 to 28, 2024, in Deauville. She explains: ‘This official national competition, endorsed by the French Equestrian Federation, will feature around 20 events over four days for both professional and amateur riders, with an expected attendance of about 2,500 participants. Deauville handles the sporting aspects, while ESSECavaliers manages all ancillary activities such as sponsorship, events, and the exhibitors’ village.’

This year marks the fifth Jump’Estival, and brings some fresh new elements: a new venue, more partners, and more entertainment. Open to all, the event promises a festive atmosphere, including DJs performing on Saturday evening.

Ayako continues: ‘Thanks to our numerous sponsors, such as NACA, a leading name in riding helmets, and special event partners like Yoplait, we can offer a wide range of prizes and entertainment. Yoplait will sponsor the children’s village and provide yogurt drinks. Horse Republic, the top app for riders with over 125,000 members, will broadcast the events on its platform, greatly enhancing our visibility. The event will feature a champagne bar in collaboration with Champagne Isabelle Sauron.’

Several exciting highlights are planned over the four-day event, including the ‘six bars’ competition, where riders face the challenge of clearing a series of bars that are raised after each successful jump. Ayako stresses: ‘This event is highly regulated, adhering to strict safety standards.’ Another unique feature will be the bitless event, where riders will guide their horses using only a simple cord or ethological halter – marking a first in France!

Ayako enthusiastically concludes that ‘We anticipate a strong turnout for these two exciting new events! The Jump’Estival by ESSEC is this summer’s must-see competition, promising plenty of entertainment and a festive, family-friendly atmosphere.’
