Led by Professor Gérard DE POUVOURVILLE, Academic Program Director, MSc in Management of Health Industries and Chaired Professor, Health Systems, the Masterclass on Innovative Pricing: A fad or a good solution for access to innovative drugs in Asia-Pacific? will be held on Wednesday, 27 April 2016 at ESSEC Asia-Pacific.

Abstract

Innovative pricing is a term which covers many modalities or attempts to move away from usual pricing arrangements, such as price/volume agreements or direct price negotiations between different payers and the industry. In any country in general, there is always a confrontational phase in the discussion around prices between payers and industry, regardless of any agreements that have been previously made. Innovative pricing is required when the negotiation fails to come to an acceptable price for both protagonists, and the company still wants to be on the market.

Can innovative pricing find its way in the Asia-Pacific region, which comprises of emerging and developed economies? In emerging economies, affordability is often a major issue, thus will patients be denied access to treatment? The presentation will discuss this issue, taking into consideration that in the region, highly developed markets coexist with “pharmemerging” ones.
