The inauguration of ESSEC Business School’s Sports & Recreation Center (SRC) on its Cergy campus marks a substantial step forward for the institution. Almamy Soumah, Executive Sports Advisor, emphasizes that this cutting-edge, eco-friendly facility effectively caters to the sports and wellness requirements of the ESSEC community.
The collaboration between the ESSEC Sports Office (BDS) and the Student Life Department exemplifies this synergy aimed at maximizing developmental and outreach opportunities. Together, they offer an inclusive and varied range of sporting activities catering to a wide audience. The introduction of new sports such as BaskIN, in partnership with Novosports and Ex-aequo Cergy, is evidence of ESSEC’s commitment to making sport accessible to all.
ESSEC’s sport strategy is structured around three core pillars. Firstly, it focuses on optimizing and broadening the inclusiveness of sporting activities, a mission bolstered by MOVESSEC. Secondly, ESSEC leverages sport as a means for educating future leaders in the sports business, offering a comprehensive range of acclaimed educational programs such as the Sports Chair and the newly launched HEPTA program in collaboration with Sciences Po, Centrale Supélec, and INSEP. Thirdly, ESSEC has a strong commitment to organizing major sporting events to elevate ESSEC’s visibility and influence.
Highlighting that the SRC is more than a mere sports facility, Almamy Soumah concludes, ‘the SRC embodies an integrated strategic vision designed to strengthen well-being, foster inclusivity, and cultivate future leaders while also strengthening the school’s ties with the local community and enhance ESSEC’s national and international prominence.’
