As an Information Systems (IS) researcher, the new director brings a wealth of knowledge at the intersection of management and technology—the precise focus of the Executive Master of the Executive Master in Digital Transformation. His research has focused on understanding current technological trends and the business challenges they create. “Our program is all about digital transformation, and I think my background will help us stay ahead of the curve, as much as possible in this fast-changing environment.”
One of his key research areas involves how companies manage their relationships with external IT service providers, such as Microsoft, Salesforce, and SAP. “These firms supply critical technologies for digital transformation, so understanding how to manage these partnerships effectively is crucial” he says.
He has also delved deeply into the topic of digital platforms, which often form the backbone of transformation initiatives. “I’m particularly interested in how companies manage the trade-offs between control and autonomy, or standardization versus variety, which are common challenges when implementing digital platforms” he adds.
In addition to his technical expertise, the new director is passionate about digital pedagogy and enhancing learning through technology. “I’m really excited to apply my experience in digital teaching to this program, ensuring that our methods are not only innovative but also effective in delivering the knowledge and skills our participants need” he says.
With a background deeply rooted in digital innovation, a passion for teaching, and a clear vision for the future, the new Academic Director Thomas HUBER is set to lead the Executive Master in Digital Transformation, part of ESSEC Online’s broad variety of executive programs, to new heights. His focus on collaboration, continuous improvement, and cutting-edge research will undoubtedly enrich the learning experience for all participants, preparing them to thrive in a world where digital transformation is no longer an option, but a necessity.
