The election of Joe Biden heralds the return of U.S climate leadership on the world scene. The newly elected President has already committed the United States to rejoin the Paris climate Agreements and his plan for climate and environmental justice is by far the most ambitious that the US has ever seen. This election opens a new chapter for EU-US relations. Their objective is now the same: achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. In many ways, the Biden climate Plan converges with our European Green Deal.

During this event, speakers will give their views on what can be done by the president-elect to tackle domestic emissions reductions. This panel will also be the opportunity to exchange on what the return of the US in the Paris Climate Agreements really means and to explore what kind of EU-US cooperation is needed to achieve carbon neutrality.

With the participation of :

- Pascal Canfin, Chair of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee of the European Parliament

- Andrew Steer, President and CEO of the World Resources Institute (WRI)

- Gina McCarthy, President and CEO of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)

- Cedomir Nestorovic, Professor of Geopolitics at ESSEC Business School
