There are nine such Working Abroad Weeks during the year. These Weeks feature 70 events and involve more than 3,500 students. More than 20 countries are represented, from 11 regions around the world: Europe, UK and Ireland, Latin America, India and the Middle East, Africa, Benelux, Asia-Pacific and North America. These Weeks offer a range of unique professional opportunities.
During these events, students get an overview of the featured countries and have the opportunity to gain an understanding of what it is like to work and live there. The participating companies present their business, the jobs and positions that are available and explain the various recruitment processes. In addition to these presentations, alumni come and talk about their experiences. This is a great opportunity for students to access internship and/or job offers.
These contacts between students and companies are special moments that extend well beyond the narrowly professional side of things. Students get an insight into cultures and regions of the world in all their richness, and this is what makes these international weeks so special.
Central to the ESSEC experience is its international dimension. 40.75% of the student body is made up of international students, representing more than 100 nationalities. ESSEC also boasts a network of 65,000 alumni and four campuses worldwide, proof of its extensive international reach. Thanks to this international presence, students have the opportunity to take part in exchange programmes with 220 partner universities in 46 countries.
In 2021, ESSEC also announced the launch of the Bachelor-to-Master network (B2M) with 5 other major management schools on three different continents (Spain, China, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom), thus consolidating its international influence. By gaining experience abroad, students stand a better chance of working in a multicultural environment later on. The B2M network encourages the mobility of students between partner institutions.
In terms of opportunities on offer internationally, Grande École students are required to complete a minimum of 6 months experience abroad. This can be done in various ways, either in a professional or academic setting (exchange programmes, dual degrees, tracks etc.). BBA students also have the option of participating in the Cohort programme, intercampus mobility and dual degree programmes, amongst others.
ESSEC also supports social and environmental initiatives as part of its “Together” programme. Students can take advantage of a Sustainable Mobility Grant of between €50 and €100 if they use low-carbon transport to travel to their place of internship or exchange. This scheme subsidises train, bus or carpooling trips within Europe, covering for trips both to and from France. This scheme is also open to Erasmus students. Thus, students can go abroad to gain international experience while doing the right thing for the planet.
