In 2020, ESSEC Business School joined the CY Cergy Paris Université and CY Alliance. Through this partnership, ESSEC is an active participant in the governance of CYU, in particular within the Board of Directors that oversees the partnership between ESSEC and CYU and the university’s site policy.
This board is made up of 8 members:
- Two representatives from ESSEC
- Two representatives from CYU
- One representative from the Paris Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry
- One representative from the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS)
- Two Alumni
The Board reports to the University Site Council, in particular on the implementation of the CY Initiative. This project was awarded the “University of Excellence” label by the French government in March 2022, thereby joining a network of 17 campuses of excellence in France, and is recognized for its public-private model. This joint project has three main objectives:

to position CYU as a world-class research university,

to establish a CY Sup undergraduate school that offers a Bachelor's degree and diversified, and flexible courses in order to promote student success,

to develop an international campus in Cergy-Pontoise
In 2019, CY Cergy Paris Université joined the European EUTOPIA alliance as a founding member. The mission of EUTOPIA, of which ESSEC is also a partner, is to build a lasting, unique and bold alliance of transformative and committed institutions.
The EUTOPIA alliance, (EUTOPIA 2050 project, confirmed in 2022 by the European Commission, EUTOPIA MORE) brings together key European academic players: University of Warwick (UK), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Brussels), the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Pompeu Fabra University (Spain), expanded in 2021 to include Ca' Foscari University of Venice (Italy), NOVA Lisboa University (Portugal), Technische Universität Dresden (Germany), and Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania).
ESSEC Business School is a member of CY Alliance.
On January 1, 2020, CY Cergy Paris Université will bring together the University of Cergy-Pontoise, EISTI and the Paris Seine Community of Universities and Institutions created in 2012. ILEPS and EPSS join CY Cergy Paris Université as component institutions. Associated under a special agreement with ESSEC Business School to implement the CY Initiative d'excellence, CY Cergy Paris Université takes on the role of coordinator of the group of institutions now known as the "CY Alliance".
With 13 public and private higher education and research establishments in the western part of the Ile-de-France region, with Cergy-Pontoise at its heart, the CY Alliance concentrates 80% of its students (40,000 by 2021) and 90% of its research.
CY Alliance, with CY Cergy Paris Université at its heart, is built around :
