GMBA | Students from the Luxury Brand management cohort experience first Savoir-Faire event in Paris

26.1.2023

Back in September, the
ESSEC GMBA Luxury Brand Management cohort visited L'Ecole des Arts Joailliers, the Van Cleef & Arpels school for jewellery for their first Savoir-Faire event of the year.

L'Ecole des Arts Joailliers which had just celebrated its 10th anniversary back in September invited students to immerse into the world of jewelry. The MBA cohort had the opportunity to attend two unique and informative courses offered by the school:

  1. Introduction of the History of Art Nouveau jewellery
A 2-hour course conducted by art historians, to understand the chronical of Art. The flawless storytelling allowed participants to enter the vision of artist-jewelers of the beginning of the 20th century.

  2. From French Jewels to Japanese Lacquer
This course introduced the cohort to the traditional Japanese practice of creating Urushi lacquer jewelry, with the help of a Master of Japanese Urushi Lacquer from Van Cleef & Arpels' High Jewelry ateliers. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for participants to design, create and keep their own Urushi Lacquer butterflies.

This visit is part of many field trips organized during the ESSEC GMBA Luxury Brand Management Track. They are part of the MBA experience and give students the opportunity to experience the luxury industry first hand.
