Organized by International SOS and the Institute of Health Economics and Management Asia-Pacific (IHEM Asia-Pacific), ESSEC Business School, the Health, Business & Society Public Talk on "Aligning Financials for Healthy Behaviors: Implications to Payers, Providers and Society" will be held on Thursday, 25 February 2016.

ABSTRACT

Most countries in Asia are moving towards and/or grappling with universal coverage in healthcare to meet rising expectations from citizens and ageing population. Singapore, for example, kicked off MediShield Life in November 2015 to provide better protection and higher payouts for life. Now, the focus for each government has shifted to aligning financial arrangements to improve health outcomes, so that the allocation of financial resources can be more effective and more sustainable.

In this talk, speakers will share the insurers' view of universal healthcare, with emphasis on the different partnerships and issues that Singapore faced. They will also discuss how various parties could come together to prevent some of the side effects of the universal coverage from the funding, payment and social responsibility of using health care services.
