Strategy and Information Governance Chair

Strategy and Information Governance Chair

Organizations in the 21st century are facing major issues related to the governance of their data. In response to this observation, the Information Strategy and Information Governance Chair offers an academic approach combining theory and practice that aims to enable its students to tackle these contemporary challenges.

The Chair's ambition is to familiarize its students with the issues related to information governance. It offers a framework for anticipating market expectations, via a pragmatic and concrete approach. The entire ecosystem of private and public companies partnering with the Chair that the students meet will benefit.

“This teaching and research Chair is the ideal forum for exchange between students, researchers and professionals to enable them to meet the key challenges linked to the governance of their data.”

Isabelle Wattiau

The Chair is designed to prepare its students for the following careers:

Chief Data Officer in large corporations such as Capgemini or ATOS operating in their core business. The CDO also has a place in companies that have no direct connection with the data industry. In this case they manage the data as an asset and make it available to the various stakeholders (the company, its customers, suppliers, creditors, etc.);

Data Strategist, assists the Chief Data Officer in defining and implementing the company's data strategy;

Cybersecurity expert, trained by this Chair in the issues related to data management. A valuable addition to the technical practice of the trade.

Students can also work in many other professions such as Data Miner, Data Scientist or Web Developer, without forgetting that not all data-related professions exist yet. This list is therefore not exhaustive.

Duration: 6 months, 5 courses (3 required and 2 elective)

Study trip to Dublin during which students will meet the GAFAM data giants during conferences and on-site visits.

Student Challenge: Partner companies come to campus to talk about the challenges they face. It is then up to students to propose solutions. Nine teams of students are supervised by consultants specialized in the digital field.

Topics proposed to students:

  • What opportunities for Green IT?

  • Help with the automation of a property damage report.

  • Research work on ESSEC's data and their management.
